Not that this will come as a shock to most of you, since I haven't updated the site since September 2011. :-) Basically, I was away for a while after my father died, and I found that I reached the inevitable point that so many others have reached, the one where I completely lost interest in maintaining the site. I decided then and there to make a clean break, to shift my energies towards other interests. (It will also benefit me financially, as I will no longer have to shoulder the costs of maintaining the hosting space and the domain name, both of which are up for renewal some time in June.)

There is another reason why I've decided to shutter the site. With the rise of social media sites (blogs, wikis, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, DeviantArt, etc.), I feel there's really very little need for dedicated fan sites like this one. Fan fiction can be published on FanFiction.net; artwork can be posted on DeviantArt; episode guides can be put on a wiki. Outpost Daria was born during a time when the web was in its infancy, but it has since far outgrown its humble beginnings and offers so much more than was available 14 years ago. (Wow... has it been that long?!) It's time to let today's social web take over, and for Outpost Daria to step back and assume its rightful place in history.

However, even though Outpost Daria itself will be going away, I am making its contents available to anyone who wants it. Below is a link to a ZIP file containing every file currently associated with the site: fanfic, artwork, everything. Anyone who downloads it is free to do whatever they wish with the contents, and while an attribution isn't necessary if you use any of it, putting one in would definitely bring a smile to my face. :-)

Finally, I would like to say that I have thorougly enjoyed my time in Daria fandom. I have met and associated with many, many fine people, had many lively discussions, and learned quite a few things. You got me through quite a few rough spots over these many years, and your friendship and cameraderie has meant the world to me. I will not forget any of you. (If you're on Facebook, look me up!)
